Finally we released a new version, our first Pycasa!

With Pycasa you will be able to download Picasa albums, but also create and edit albums, upload your photos and more.

PycasaDownload 0.5-beta is now available for download, with a whole new interface and new features. You will be able to browse through the albums, and selectively download photos from the shown thumbnails. You will also be able to look metadata from albums and photos, and more… You will be amazed with this release! And surely you will enjoy it a lot.

Currently, we are working on integrating the upload photos feature to make PycasaDownload the simpler but complete choice to manage your Picasa photo albums.

Pycasa Download 0.2 is out!

Finally! After some tremendous effort and valuable collaboration from the dev team, we’re releasing version 0.2 of PycasaDownload.

Besides the improvements we already mentioned in our previous post, we have updated the documentation and added some extra validation and informative messages.

You can download it and try it out right now!

We feel really happy about the evolution of this project. We have already started working on features for the next release, with the goal of integrating upload capabilities too. Your comments and suggestions are very welcome. Thank you!

We are working on a new release of Pycasa Download.

It will include interesting new features:

A table view with albums metadata
Multiple albums download
Choose of download destination
Fix to make it run in Windows
Added a text mode not requiring PyGtk

and some other issues solved from the previous version.

What is Pycasa Download?

This is a small program to download Picasa photo albums. It is written in python, with a PyGtk graphical interface.

If you run PycasaDownload, it will show you a little window where you can input a username (with or without the @gmail.com), for example: jsmith@gmail.com, and update the album list. Then you will be able to choose one album from the list showing album title (number of images), and download it. The images will be saved with their original name in a directory named in the current path.

Version 0.1 is available here. We are working on release 0.2, very soon.
